This project is the result of a form prototyping exercise on wearable technology, exploring the idea of 'capturing a moment through scent.' Scent is explicitly tied with vivid emotions and memory, and as such came about the Proustian moment, penned after the famous literature À La Recherche du Temps Perdu by Marcel Proust. Neuroscience can explain how odour takes a direct route to the limbic system, which is involved in the amygdala and the hippocampus or could also be understood as dealing with emotions and memory. ComPlayScent is ultimately an at-home device that can playback scent, much like we play sound.
